‘Chinese CCTV cameras installed by Punjab employees’: BJP’s Parvesh Verma slams AAP

New Delhi: Parvesh Verma, the BJP’s candidate for the New Delhi assembly constituency, on Tuesday raised concerns regarding the alleged influx of vehicles from Punjab in the run-up to the assembly elections in the national capital.

Verma, who is set to fight against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, alleged that all Punjab ministers and MLAs have arrived only for the New Delhi seat, with thousands of vehicles bearing Punjab registration numbers plying around the city.

He pointed out that Punjab CM, all the ministers and MLAs of Punjab have come to the national capital only for the New Delhi constituency. “Thousands of vehicles having Punjab numbers are moving here – who are there in those vehicles? Republic Day preparations are going on, what big thing those people are going to do that may compromise our security?” he questioned.

‘Registered complaint with EC, Police’

Verma said he has registered a complaint with the Election Commission and the police over the issue. He alleged that Chinese CCTV cameras are being installed by AAP members. The BJP leader said, “Chinese CCTV cameras are being installed here by the government employees of Punjab. A few people complained to the police as the colony is in proximity to India Gate. When they were caught – they said that AAP had sent them to install CCTV. I have filed a complaint with the Election Commission and Police.”

On Tuesday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took out a rally to back AAP candidates in the national capital. He said, “The kind of love and affection that we are getting from the people, I don’t think that I need to say much. In Punjab, we have fulfilled our promises, even those promises we didn’t make.”

The assembly elections will be held in Delhi on February 5. The counting of the votes will be carried out on February 8.
