New Delhi: There was utter pandemonium at a wedding venue when the groom was abducted by dancers hired to perform at the ceremony. The incident was reported from Bihar’s Gopalganj on Friday midnight.
It all happened during a traditional ‘Launda Nach’ performance in Dighwa Dubouli village, Times of India reported. The event, held under the jurisdiction of the Town police station, took a chaotic turn after a clash erupted between the dance troupe and the wedding guests.
Sonu Kumar Sharma, the groom, was through with the wedding rituals and was carrying out post-ceremony traditions when clashes broke out. The guests wanted the dancers to continue their performance, however, the dancers were ready to leave. Tensions mounted as heated words were exchanged, and a physical clash ensued.
A police officer said that while the groom was getting over the wedding rituals at the mandap, the wedding guests were enjoying a dance performance after dinner. But when the dancers tried to end the programme, the guests got enraged. There was a physical altercation between the guests and the dancers. As a result of the scuffle, a dancer named Muskan Kinnar was injured and had to be rushed to the hospital, the cop added. “Around 2 am, she called her group and went to the bride’s house. They first attacked the bride’s family and then abducted the groom from the mandap,” the officer was quoted as saying in the report.
Family members clamed that around 2 am, a group from the dance troupe came back at the venue in a vehicle, and beat up the bride’s relatives, and forcibly took the groom away. After nine hours, police tracked down the abductors. At 11 am on Saturday, the groom was rescued from Siwan district.
