The incident comes amid a slew of flight cancellations and rescheduling across the aviation industry because of technical snags, particularly following the Air India crash in Ahmedabad.
On Saturday, officials reported that an Air India Express flight from Delhi to Patna was diverted to Varanasi because of unstable weather.
Another Guwahati-Chennai IndiGo flight with 168 passengers made an emergency landing at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport after the captain declared a ‘Mayday’ as it was running on low fuel on Friday.
The plane tried to land in Chennai but aborted the landing after the landing gear briefly touched the runway. A source pointed out that the approach appeared unstable, forcing the pilot to initiate a steep climb. Around 35 miles from Bengaluru, a distress call was made, resulting in an emergency diversion.
