New Delhi: In a major move, the Centre has granted Z-category security cover to Kanchi Kamakoti Shankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswati. The move comes following Intelligence Bureau (IB) report highlighting potential threats to the Hindu spiritual leader.
Acting on the IB report, the Home Ministry approved the Z-category security arrangement. After the high level security cover, Shankaracharya will get 33 CRPF commandos to ensure round-the-clock protection. The CRPF personnel will provide round the clock security coverage, a measure reserved for individuals considered to be under high serious risk.
Shankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswathi 70th seer. On Wednesday, he anointed Satya Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi as the 71st pontiff of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peeth following a grand ceremony in Kancheepuram.
Before his initiation into sanyasa, the 25-year-old acharya was known as Ganesha Sharma Dravid. Satya Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi was anointed during a grand ceremony that was held on the auspicious Akshya Tritya. The event was attended by various seers from across the country.
