Bus falls into 100-meter deep ditch in Uttarakhand’s Pauri; 4 dead, 18 injured

Pauri: Four people were killed and around 18 others were injured when a bus went out of control and fell into a 100-meter-deep ditch near Dahalchori area in Pauri district, Uttarakhand, on Sunday. 

The incident took place when the bus was traveling from Pauri to Dahalchori, carrying 22 passengers.

Rescue operations underway

According to ANI reports quoting officials, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was informed about the accident by the District Control Room, Pauri. SDRF spokesperson confirmed that teams from Srinagar and Satpuli posts were immediately dispatched to the site for rescue operations. Pauri police and local residents also worked together to help the victims.

Rescue teams managed to extract 18 injured passengers and rushed them to the nearest hospital for treatment. Four passengers were found dead at the spot. Their bodies were also transported to the hospital for further necessary procedures.

Uttarakhand CM expresses grief

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his sorrow over the incident. On X, he wrote, “Very sad news was received about the death of four passengers due to a bus accident on the way to Kendriya Vidyalaya in Pauri. I pray to God to grant the souls of the departed a place in His feet and provide strength to the bereaved family to bear this pain.” 

He also informed the public about the ongoing relief and rescue operations being carried out by the local administration.
