Kolkata: The body of a BSF jawan was found hanging on the morning of June 9 at a rented house in Kolkata. The deceased’s name is Suryakanta Das, a 38-year-old jawan of the BSF. He was a resident of Odisha.
Around a month ago, the jawan came to live in a rented house in Sulanggari area of Eco Park Police Station. On the morning of June 9, his hanging body was recovered from the rented house. He sent an alleged suicide note to his family members via WhatsApp.
It was his family members who found the jawan hanging. On receiving the information, the Eco Park police and BSF officials arrived at the spot. The body has been sent for autopsy.
According to TV9 Bangla, police sources have said that on June 9 morning, they received information that a person’s hanging body was found in a house in Sulanggari Ram Mandir area of the Eco Park Police Station. Immediately, police went to the spot and came to know that the deceased was a BSF jawan. A suicide note was recovered from the deceased’s house.
The initial police probe has reportedly revealed that the jawan sent the suicide note to his family members through WhatsApp. Then on Monday morning, family members rushed to the scene and were the first to see the body. According to police sources, the suicide note mentions mental stress. However, the Eco Park police has started an investigation into the entire incident.
Meanwhile, in another news, a woman from West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas was brutally assaulted by a man and his mother for refusing to shoot pornographic videos and work as a bar dancer. The woman was allegedly kept as a hostage for nearly six months and was beaten ruthlessly beaten, and starved for several days. The victim managed to flee from the flat on Saturday. She was evidently beaten with an iron rod and suffered serious injuries.
