New Delhi: A BJP leader in Hyderabad has sparked controversy after he mistakenly shouted “Jai Ho Jai Ho Pakistan” during a protest at Charminar on Monday against the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
In the video, which has gone viral, the BJP leader can be heard chanting “Jai Jai Ho Ho Pakistan”. After realising his mistake, he quickly corrected himself and chanted “Jai Ho Jai Ho Hindustan”.
After his mistake, the leader and the activists continued to raise slogans: ‘Khabardar Khabardar Pakistan Khabardar; Hum Se Jo Takraiga, Mitti Mein Mil Jayega and so on. However, the damage was already done.
Netizens and social media users strongly criticised the leader for chanting such a slogan, even if it was by mistake. One of the users said: “Imagine the outrage if a leader from any other party had made such a mistake.”
The BJP is yet to release an official statement or clarification on the incident. The identity of the leader involved has not been disclosed, and it is still unclear whether the party intends to take any disciplinary action against him.
