Kolkata: A Hindu temple was vandalised and the idol of Lord Hanuman in it defaced by unidentified miscreants in Birbhum district of West Bengal, the BJP claimed on Friday while slamming the state police over its “reluctance” in taking action against the culprits.
In a post on X, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari shared a video of the Lord Hanuman Temple at Indragachha More, of Purandarpur Gram Panchayat in Birbhum. The video purportedly showed the temple’s premises vandalised and a desecrated idol. The incident reportedly took place on Thursday night
“Last night miscreants vandalised the Lord Hanuman Temple at Indragachha More, Purandarpur Gram Panchayat, Siuri – II Block, Birbhum District. They even desecrated Bajrangbali’s Idol. Vandalism in Hindu Temples have now become an alarming trend in West Bengal,” Adhikari wrote in the post.

He urged the West Bengal Police DGP Rajeev Kumar to arrest those behind the act while calling out the police’s “continuous reluctance” in taking action against miscreants who vandalise “Sanatani temples” and that it has given them courage to commit such acts repeatedly.
