Patna : The children of all the government schools will learn the skills to protect, save and escape during incidents of disasters along with their studies as a detailed programme has been chalked out under “Mukhya Mantri Vidyalaya Suraksha Karyakram” in this regard.

Programme’s objectiveProgramme launched in 2018-19

A special safety training programme will be launched in all the secondary & higher secondary schools to impart skill training to the children of Std VIII and IX on every Saturday of the week which will be known as “Surakshit Shanivar” (Safe Saturday). Bihar Education Project Council, Patna, State Project Director Mayank Warwade has issued a letter giving necessary directions to all the District Education Officers (DEOs) and District Programme Officers (DPOs) in this regard.

The teachers trained at state level as how to protect, save and escape during disasters will be known as “focal teacher”.
In order to make it a successful programme, one teacher from every secondary and higher secondary schools will be given training at a two-day state level residential training programme. The training programme will be imparted at Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna (CIMP) beginning June 30, 2025.

The training programme will be organized in a batch 150 teachers each from different districts. The training programme will continue till September 26, 2025 and the remaining teachers will be given training in next phase.

Programme’s objective

The programme’s objective is to give training to one teacher of every school to equip him/her with skills of saving and protecting oneself during the incidents of disaster, so that these trained teachers organise a weekly “Surakshit Shanivar” programme in their respective schools giving training to children.

The trained students, in turn, would make the other children and people living in their vicinity aware of disaster related incidents and also as how to protect and save themselves during such incidents.

Training will be given to protect from all types of disasters-

Students will be given training as how to protect, save and escape oneself and people along with them during all sorts of disasters including earthquake, fire incidents, floods and other emergency situations. They will be given detailed information about disaster related incidents so that casualties as well as loss of life and property could be minimised during disasters.

Programme launched in 2018-19

The programme to impart children the skills to escape disaster was launched in the year 2018-19 but it was shelved midway because of COVID-19 pandemic. In the initial phase, children of primary and middle schools were given training under Mukhya Mantri Vidyalaya Suraksha Karyakram but this time, the training will also be given to the children of secondary and higher secondary schools.
