Bhagalpur: A sweet vendor and admirer of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has crafted a special sweet called the “Modi Laddu” for Diwali. Sanjeev, also known as Lalu Sharma, mentioned that he created the laddu the same year Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, naming it in his honour.

Sanjeev explained that the laddu is made from high-quality ingredients like pure saffron, desi ghee, pistachios, almonds, rose water and juice and has gained immense popularity over the years. Sanjeev added that after PM Modi’s three consecutive terms, this laddu has brought him recognition and prosperity, with people all over India now knowing him as the creator of the Modi Laddu.

He further noted that although fans of the Modi Laddu are spread across the country, it wouldn’t be feasible to make it available nationwide this Diwali. However, he expressed hope of reaching people in India and even those settled abroad.

Sanjeev told IANS that the Modi Laddu stands out for its purity and rich flavour. He said that since he is from Varanasi, which is the Lok Sabha constituency of PM Modi, he includes gangajal in the laddu, reflects his emotional bond.

Sanjeev has also introduced a barfi, inspired by his patriotism. It is made from pure pistachios and almonds. He said that the barfi and other sweets are also being sold in large numbers.

To enhance the cultural connection, he has made a special “Aloo ka Papad”. He believes that his products would spread the essence of the Ganga river. He added that only natural ingredients, such as saffron and sweet neem, are used to add colour in his sweets.

He said that his focus isn’t solely on profit but on promoting the Ganga-Jamuna-Saraswati civilisation and Sanatani culture through his sweets.
