Samastipur: In a shocking incident reported from Bihar’s Samastipur district, a 13-year-old boy was reportedly mauled to death by stray dogs. The attack was so vicious that the boy’s face was bitten badly and his skull was visible, said a report in NDTV.
Boy attacked while walking on road: Father
The police said that the stray dogs gnawed at the boy’s skin and left bones visible. The boy’s father was with him when the child was attacked. He said that the 2 along with other villagers were walking to a place of worship, when the attack happened.
The boy was reportedly walking a little distance away from the group, claimed his father. The boy’s father Santosh Paswan said that seeing his son alone, the dogs ran towards him and attacked him. Though people immediately rushed in to help, the child had already died.
Following the death of the child, villagers blocked the main road and shouted slogans against the administration and police. The villagers alleged that the police came late. The villagers have also demanded compensation for the victim’s family.
Villagers recalled a recent incident, where a girl died after being attacked by stray dogs. The incident happened last month when the girl was attacked by 15-20 stray dogs, they said. She died while being taken to hospital.
Villagers allege inaction
The villagers claimed that they have complained many times to the authorities regarding the stray dog menace, but no action has been taken so far. The villagers said that soon after the girl’s death last month, the in-charge of the community health centre wrote to the animal husbandry department, requesting them to catch the strays. But no action was taken.
Following the back-to-back deaths of the children, villagers said that they are living in fear. They have also stopped sending their children out to play alone, fearing an attack by the stray dogs.
