Belgaum: A Bengaluru based techie allegedly committed suicide in his electric shop in Belgaum and blamed his wife for the drastic step.
The victim Sunil Moolimani (33), reportedly ended his life following continued harassment by wife and his in-laws including father-in-law. A suicide note has also been recovered from the shop. A case has been registered under Section 108 of BNS at the Udyogbagh police station.
Sunil and his Pooja got married four years ago. They also have a three-year-old child. The body of Sunil has been shifted to the BIMS morgue for post-mortem.
Several cases of ‘husband’ suicide
A similar case of suicide was reported from Bengaluru last year. Atul Subhash, a techie from Marathahalli in Bengaluru allegedly hanged himself in 2024. Atul left behind a suicide note as well as recorded a 6 minute video before taking the extreme step. It was reported that his wife Nikita Singhania had filed 9 cases against him for attempted murder, unnatural sexual acts, and harassment.
In another incident from Bengaluru, a constable PC Thippanna committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Baiyyappanahalli after he was allegedly harassed by his wife and father-in-law in December last year. In his suicide note, Thippanna mentioned that his father-in-law had insulted and abused him saying, “You go and die, my daughter will be fine.”
In another suicide case reported in Bengaluru, constable PC Thippanna, tired of being harassed by his wife and father-in-law, committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Baiyyappanahalli. In his death note, Thippanna had mentioned that his father-in-law had abused him with abusive words, saying, “You go and die, my daughter will be fine.”
