Vellore: A disturbing incident of online harassment and extortion has come to light in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. A 19-year-old man, Srinatha, from Bangaluru’s Hulimavu area, was arrested for morphing a woman’s photos, recording obscene video calls, and demanding money.
According to police report, the victim, a young woman from Vellore, had befriended Srinatha on Instagram. He gained her trust and obtained her photos, which he later morphed to make her appear naked. Srinatha threatened to post the obscene photos on a pornographic website unless she engaged in video calls with him.

Frightened, the woman complied, and Srinatha recorded their conversations without her knowledge. He then sent the video recordings to her and demanded money. The woman, overwhelmed, confided in her parents, and they filed a complaint with Vellore District Superintendent of Police Mathivanan.
Cybercrime police tracked down Srinatha and arrested him. Interrogation revealed his involvement in extorting money from multiple women using fake social media accounts. Srinatha has been remanded in judicial custody.
