New Delhi: A tragic accident in Bengaluru claimed the life of a 20-year-old student and has left his girlfriend critically injured. The incident took place on April 8 when the deceased, Eldos, a native of Kerala was on a bike along with his girlfriend, Shivalaya. As per the information, Eldos was riding his bike with his girlfriend, Shivalaya when a car struck them.

Eldos sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot whereas Shivalaya is currently undergoing treatment at Sparsh Hospital for serious injuries. His body was sent for post-mortem and has been handed over to his family.

As per the police sources, the incident took place when a water bottle reportedly rolled under the foot of the car driver, Shamant Gowda. In an attempt to retrieve it, Gowda inadvertently pressed the accelerator instead of the brake. The sudden acceleration caused Shamant to lose control of the car, which crashed with the bike coming from the opposite direction.

The deceased, Eldos was a native of Kerala. He was pursuing Aerospace Engineering whereas  Shivalaya, hailing from Hyderabad was an engineering student. Both of them were pursuing their courses at Rev College.

The case has been registered under Chikkajala Traffic Police Station further investigation is going on. The tragic accident has left both families in deep shock and has once again raised concerns related to road safety.

Residents and fellow students have expressed their dismay and have asked for stricter traffic monitoring on Bengaluru Main Road, where frequent accidents occur.
