The couple had been married for just four months. Three months ago, Arshi eloped with Shabir. She returned on April 30 with him and demanded a divorce from her husband. She told police that she had already had a court marriage with Shabir and wanted to live with him. She also claimed that Shakir was impotent, and that was why she fell in love with his younger brother.

Shakir called the police, and all three were taken to Lisadi Gate police station. There, Arshi again refused to live with her husband and insisted on staying with Sabir. In front of the police, both Arshi and Shakir agreed to separate and completed the triple talaq process by mutual consent.

Arshi also demanded Rs 2.5 lakh from Shakir, saying she had brought Rs 5 lakh as mehr at the time of marriage. Shakir agreed and said he would sell his share of the house, which is jointly owned with Shabir, to pay her. With the settlement in place, Arshi left the police station with Shabir and went to her maternal home.
