The couple had been married for just four months. Three months ago, Arshi eloped with Shabir. She returned on April 30 with him and demanded a divorce from her husband. Arshi also demanded Rs 2.5 lakh from Shakir, saying she had brought Rs 5 lakh as mehr at the time of marriage. Shakir agreed and said he would sell his share of the house, which is jointly owned with Shabir, to pay her. With the settlement in place, Arshi left the police station with Shabir and went to her maternal home.
