Agra: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday urged the people of India to remain united against communal forces while citing the recent unrest in Bangladesh, saying that nothing is above the country and the nation will be strengthened “jab hum ek rahenge, nek rahenge. Batenge toh katenge” (We will prosper when we’re united and will be slayed if we’re divided).
He made the remarks while addressing a Janmashtami event in Agra. Bangladesh recently witnessed large-scale anti-government protests that resulted in the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Despite the change in leadership, the country has continued to witness incidents of violence, including targeted attacks on the Hindu minority community.
Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said, “There can be nothing bigger than the nation, and when will a nation be strong, when we are united and good.” Aap dekh rahe hain Bangladesh mein kya ho raha hai? Wo galatiyan yahan nahi honi chahiye. Batenge toh katenge! Ek rahenge to nek rahenge, surakshit rahenge aur samriddhi ki parakashtha ko pahuchenge,” the chief minister said in Hindi.

He then urged people to observe the events unfolding in Bangladesh, warning that similar mistakes should not be repeated here. He emphasised, “If we are divided, we will be vulnerable, but if we stand together, we will be strong, secure, and achieve the heights of prosperity.”
Reacting to Adityanath’s comment, Samajwadi Party chief and Lok Sabha MP Akhilesh Yadav said the chief minister’s remark on Bangladesh reveals his ambitions for the Prime Minister’s position and this isn’t the first time he’s suggested this.
“I hope the officials in Delhi will make it clear that he should refrain from interfering in their affairs,” Yadav added.
