New Delhi: In yet another revelation in the Baba Siddique murder case, during police interrogation, it has emerged that the assailants practiced shooting in a forest located on the Karjat-Khopoli Road before targeting the former Congress minister.

An official stated that the accused practiced firing with a tree as the target. This practice was conducted in a nearby forest close to the waterfall near Palasdari village on the Karjat-Khopoli Road, the interrogation revealed.

The accused practiced shooting in September of this year. To practice, they took a train from Kurla Station to Lauji Railway Station, then travelled by an auto-rickshaw and reached Palasdari village.

The accused practiced shooting by firing 5-10 rounds at a tree in the nearby forest of that village. Officials from the Mumbai Crime Branch arrived at the specified location to conduct a panchnama. On Tuesday, for the third time, Baba Siddique’s son and MLA Zeeshan Siddique visited the Mumbai Police Commissioner’s office. During these three visits, he met with Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar for the second time.

Murder weapons brought from Udaipur to Mumbai

Earlier, it was revealed that the weapons used to kill Baba Siddique were brought to Mumbai from Udaipur, Rajasthan. The police said that the persons who provided and received the weapons did not know each other. According to the Crime Branch, the accused Ram Kannaujia and Bhagwant Singh travelled to Udaipur to get the weapons. They did not know the man who gave them the arms.

When they Udaipur, the duo was sent a photo by the gang of the shirt worn by the man delivering the weapons to the accused to identify him. They were directed to go to a secret location to collect three pistols from the man in the shirt.

The three-time MLA Baba Siddique was shot dead in front of his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office on October 12. The name of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with the killing surfaced. However, Mumbai cops reportedly are still struggling with divergent theories in the murder of Baba Siddique. They have yet to establish that Bishnoi’s direct role in the killing. The police are probing if Bishnoi himself approved the murder or whether the murder contract was taken without his knowledge.
