New Delhi: India on Wednesday strongly rejected Pakistan’s accusations linking New Delhi to a deadly suicide bombing in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district, calling the claims “baseless” and a desperate attempt to deflect from Islamabad’s own internal failings.
In a sharply worded statement, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed the allegations levelled by Pakistani leaders and its military establishment that India was involved in the attack which killed at least six people, including school children, and injured over three dozen others.
‘Global epicentre of terrorism’
“India rejects the baseless allegations made by Pakistan regarding Indian involvement with the incident in Khuzdar earlier today. India condoles the loss of lives in all such incidents,” said Jaiswal.
He further added, “However, in order to divert attention from its reputation as the global epicentre of terrorism and to hide its own gross failings, it has become second nature for Pakistan to blame India for all its internal issues. This attempt to hoodwink the world is doomed to fail.”
Suicide bomber rams explosive-laden vehicle
The blast occurred early Wednesday morning when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a school bus transporting students to the Army Public School in Khuzdar’s Zero Point area. The powerful explosion destroyed the bus and left the surrounding vicinity strewn with debris. According to local authorities, three children were among the deceased.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with other top officials including President Asif Ali Zardari and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, condemned the attack, vowing swift justice and blaming “India-backed terrorists” for orchestrating the assault.
However, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
