Arvind Kejriwal urges swift road repairs in Delhi amid deteriorating conditions

New Delhi: Concerned over the pathetic condition of the roads in Delhi, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has urged Chief Minister Atishi to start the repair work of Delhi roads on a war footing. After reading it out in the Assembly, he handed it over to CM Atishi.

During the course of road inspection conducted in various areas along with chief minister Atishi in the last two days, Arvind Kejriwal found the roads in a bad shape. Following this, the AAP National Convenor wrote a letter to the Chief Minister, urging her to take up the repair work on priority.

AAP’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal raised the issue of Delhi’s dilapidated roads during the two-day special session of the Delhi Assembly. “I have been going out with Chief Minister Atishi to inspect the roads of Delhi for the last two days. I remember that the condition of the roads was not so bad before I went to jail. But I was told that these people did not even allow regular maintenance. Therefore, the condition of Delhi’s roads has become worse now,” he said.

The AAP supremo told all the AAP MLAs that these people (BJP) wasted a lot of our time. First Manish Sisodia was arrested and then I was arrested. Before that, a lot of time was wasted during the Corona period. Now we will have to work hard.

“We all have come into politics only to serve the public. All the MLAs will be put on duty within the next few days. Everyone will have to go out in their areas at night or early in the morning and inspect the roads. Let’s do an assessment of all the broken PWD roads. After this, CM Atishi will give the order to repair all those roads together, so that all the roads can be repaired together,” affirmed Arvind Kejriwal.

Arvind Kejriwal’s letter to CM Atishi (originally in Hindi)

For the last two days, I went with you to inspect different roads of Delhi. The condition of these roads is very bad. When I was arrested in the month of March, the roads of Delhi were fine.

Just a few days ago, I met one of their big leaders. I asked him what did they get by arresting me, he smiled and said that ‘we derailed the Delhi government, brought Delhi to a standstill’. I was surprised to hear his answer. So, was their motive behind arresting me to bring Delhi to a standstill, was their motive to trouble the people of Delhi? How can any person or any party be happy if the public is troubled? It is obvious that their motive was to stop the work of Delhi and defame the Aam Aadmi Party government, so that these people win the Delhi elections. How can any party stoop so low for the sake of getting votes and winning elections that it makes the lives of two crore people miserable.

We are not like that. We have come into politics to serve the public. Now we have to work on a war footing. All the stalled works in Delhi have to be started. This time it has rained a lot. Due to this many roads of Delhi have been damaged. Please get down on the road with all the ministers and MLAs and get an assessment done as to which roads are damaged and start their repair immediately. We will have to work hard day and night. All the stalled works in Delhi have to be started. Together with the people of Delhi, all their problems have to be solved.
