Arvind Kejriwal blames Amit Shah for attack on his vehicle in Delhi’s Hari Nagar

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal claimed his vehicle was attacked by a rival candidate’s supporters during a campaign event in Hari Nagar, Delhi, and accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of orchestrating the attack on his convoy. This follows a previous allegation of stone-pelting at Kejriwal’s vehicle last week.

Kejriwal alleged on X that Delhi Police allowed the attackers into his public event and blamed Amit Shah for turning the police force into “the personal army of the BJP.” He also questioned the Election Commission’s effectiveness in preventing such attacks.

In a post on X, the former Delhi CM alleged that the Delhi Police allowed the supporters of a rival candidate into a public event in Hari Nagar, who then proceeded to attack his vehicle. He also accused Amit Shah of making Delhi Police the “personal army of BJP”.

“Today in Hari Nagar, the police allowed the opposition candidate’s men to enter my public meeting and then attacked my car. All this is happening on the orders of Amit Shah. Amit Shah has made the Delhi Police the personal army of the BJP,” he said.

“There are big questions being raised on the Election Commission that the national president of a national party and its leaders are being constantly attacked and the poll body is unable to take any effective action,” Kejriwal further alleged.

Meanwhile, Punjab Police withdrew Kejriwal’s additional security following instructions from the Election Commission and Delhi Police. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed this, stating they would continue sharing intelligence inputs with Delhi Police. Kejriwal previously had Z-plus security with 63 personnel.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh accused the Delhi Police of forcefully removing Kejriwal’s additional protection and claimed individuals with sticks and rods were present at the event. The AAP shared a video of the alleged attack on Kejriwal’s convoy last Saturday, accusing the BJP of orchestrating it out of fear of defeat. They demanded action against BJP candidate Parvesh Verma and claimed a threat to Kejriwal’s life.

“Today @DelhiPolice forcibly removed @ArvindKejriwal ‘s Punjab Police security. Right now there is a meeting of @ArvindKejriwal ji at J Block Kali Bari Marg, goons are already present there with sticks and rods, I am reaching there,” Singh posted on X.

Parvesh Verma, the BJP candidate from New Delhi, countered the accusations, alleging that Kejriwal’s car injured two BJP supporters who were then taken to Lady Hardinge Medical College.

“The car of Arvind Kejriwal has gone ahead by crushing the workers of the BJP. The leg of the worker (BJP) has broken and I am going to the Lady Hardinge Medical College to inquire about his health. This is very shameful,” said Verma.
