New Delhi: Eschewing a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism, India has decided that any act of terror in future will be considered an act of war against the country and will be dealt with accordingly, according to sources from the Indian government.
The move comes after a series of ceasefire violations and re-escalating moves by Pakistan following Operation Sindoor by India. Since the operation of May 7 in which India destroyed the terror bases along LoC and Pakistan, Islamabad has been bombarding India with hundreds of drones.
In addition to this, in an attempt to escalate the tension, Pakistan has been deploying its military in forward areas, while continuing the drone attacks. This information was shared by Colonel Sofiya Qureshi at a press briefing conducted jointly by the Indian army and the Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday morning.
Pakistani shelling has caused major destruction in areas of Srinagar, Avantipura, Amritsar, Udhampur, Rajori and others. Qureshi disclosed that the Pakistan military used high-speed missiles at 1.40 am to target an air base in Punjab. Along the Western front, it attacked India’s military settlements using drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions, and jets.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in the press briefing stated that India has been taking measured ways to counter Pakistan’s action. He said that it is Pakistan’s act that constitutes provocation and escalation.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, who was also in the press briefing, said, “Indian armed forces remain in a high state of operational readiness; all hostile actions have been effectively countered.”
