The attack was so brutal that Meera’s head was severed from her torso. The other two women, who were with Meera, sustained injuries.

Villagers protest in anger

The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who have long suffered from frequent leopard attacks.

In response to the attack, villagers gathered on the Udaipur-Ahmedabad highway, blocking it in protest. They demanded immediate action from the authorities, including the shooting of the leopard and financial compensation for the victims.

In response to the protest, Jhadol’s Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and Deputy Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) met the villagers. They assured the community of financial assistance, which led to the reopening of the blocked highway. Meanwhile, teams from the forest department are actively searching for the leopard responsible for the attack.
