Another cosy day with IMD’s predictions of heavy rains in Bengaluru | Weekly forecast

Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rain, along with scattered thunderstorms and lightning throughout the day. The cloudy skies are likely to create a cozy ambiance, perfect for those who enjoy a rainy atmosphere. Meanwhile, residents of Bengaluru greeted a pleasant morning today as the city woke up to comfortable temperatures of 20 degrees Celsius. As the day progresses, temperatures are expected to rise to a maximum of around 27 degrees. The sun is set to dip below the horizon at 5:59 PM.

Air quality in the city is currently rated as good, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 42.0. Gentle winds are forecasted to blow in from the southwest at approximately 13 km/h, while humidity levels are expected to remain around 76 per cent, slightly lower than Wednesday’s readings. The IMD estimates light drizzle, with total precipitation reaching around 2.8 mm.

Yellow Alert in parts of Karnataka; Anticipated heavy rains in Bengaluru

In contrast, coastal areas and North Interior Karnataka are under a yellow alert as heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, is anticipated. The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) shared updates on social media platform X, indicating that significant rainfall is likely in coastal and hilly regions, while lighter rain is expected over the next few days.

Looking ahead, the IMD has warned of a depression in air pressure over the Southwest Bay of Bengal, which may lead to widespread moderate rain. Scattered heavy to very heavy showers, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds, are expected to affect most of South Interior Karnataka and parts of North Interior Karnataka on Friday, October 18. Heavy rainfall in Bengaluru is also anticipated to continue until October 18, after which conditions are expected to improve.
