Amritsar: Gritty woman fends off 3 robbers trying to break into her home | Video

New Delhi:  A woman’s grit and presence of mind helped her fend off three robbers from breaking into her home. The incident has come to light from Punjab’s Amritsar. Mandeep Kaur did it single-handedly as she was alone in her home with her two children when the robbers struck. Her husband was away when the robbery attempt was made.

The incident was captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the room. The footage shows Kaur putting in all her efforts to block the door with her body weight and screaming and shouting as she does it, even as the robbers keep trying to break in.

It is believed that Jagjeet Singh, Mandeep Kaur’s husband, is a jeweller and apparently, the robbers knew he was not at home and targeted the house in his absence. The robbery bid was made in the evening on Monday.

Mandeep Kaur was reportedly busy putting up clothes for drying when she spotted three men with masks in the vicinity of her residence. After climbing the wall, they came to the main door of the house. An agile Kaur tried to lock the door as the robbers made a desperate attempt to get it by pushing it hard.

In the CCTV footage, Kaur can seen shutting the door as the robbers keep pushing it with force. The woman succeeds in latching the door. After this, she pulls a sofa to ensure the door doesn’t give way due to the force of the robbers. In an effort to raise an alarm, she keeps screaming all the while. Her small kids are also seen in the CCTV footage. After the door is latched and the sofa kept at the entry, Kaur makes phone calls and seeks help.

The two CCTV cameras that covered the house entry show the three robbers trying to get in from the main door. As they fail to get in, the robbers flee. A probe has been launched into the robbery bid and the police are scanning the CCTV footage to establish the robbers’ identity.

Netizens shower praise

Netizens praised the woman’s incredible courage. An X user wrote, “Seeing this brave woman stand her ground against three robbers truly warms my heart! It’s a powerful reminder that strength comes in all forms.” Another user said, “She deserves all the respect for protecting her home.”
