New Delhi: Superstar Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has increased his real estate footprint in Ayodhya. He has deepened his ties with the Uttar Pradesh city where the Ram Mandir is located by purchasing another land parcel.
Bachchan has bought a 25,000 sq ft plot next to The Sarayu, a luxury plotted development by Mumbai-based real estate firm The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL). Earlier in 2024, Bachchan invested in purchased a 10,000 sq ft plot in The Sarayu, HoABL’s flagship 7-star mixed-use enclave in Ayodhya, for Rs 14.5 crore.
In March 2025, a Times of India report revealed that Bachchan purchased a 54,454 sq ft plot located about 10 km from the Ram Mandir. The plot was bought under the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Trust name. According to reports, the land may be used to establish a memorial dedicated to the life and literary contributions of the iconic Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, the father of Amitabh Bachchan.
Before the Ram Temple was inaugurated in 2024, Bachchan reportedly purchased a 5,372-square-foot plot in Haveli Avadh for Rs 4.54 crore. Also, he bought a 10,000 sq ft land parcel in Alibaug for Rs 10 crore, also from HoABL, which diversified his luxury real estate portfolio further.
According to a report by Liases Foras titled “Ayodhya – A Rising Global Spiritual Capital,” the real estate market of the city has transformed significantly, thanks to the increasing land values and interest in both spiritual tourism and long-term investment. As per the report, land prices in Ayodhya have grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19 per cent, with projections suggesting it could reach 25 per cent by 2035.
Large-scale infrastructure projects have driven Ayodhya’s growth in the last five years. The projects include the international airport’s expansion, improved road and rail connectivity, and the Ram Mandir’s construction. In key areas like the Sarayu riverfront and the Ram Mandir corridor, land values have appreciated more than 4.5 times between 2020 and 2025, as per the report.
