Amitabh Bachchan felicitates Chiranjeevi with ANR award in Hyderabad

New Delhi: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan attended a prestigious award ceremony commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of legendary Telugu cinema actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao. During the ceremony, he was requested to present Chiranjeevi with the Akkineni Nageshwara Rao (ANR) National Award on Monday, October 28, in Hyderabad.

Nagarjuna Akkineni took to X to announce the event on October 25. He expressed gratitude to fans for their wishes and declared that two of the biggest actors from Bollywood and Tollywood will be gracing the event. Here are the highlights from the event.

Clips from the event show the 82-year-old actor Amitabh Bachchan calling upon Chiranjeevi to the stage to present him with the esteemed award. Emotional at the honour presented to him, Chiranjeevi bowed down in front of Amitabh and touched his feet to take blessings. After the felicitation, the two industry legends posed in front of the paparazzi and the Akkineni family.

Several celebrities such as Ram Charan, Venkatesh, Brahmanandam, and Nani, directors K Raghavendra Rao, Trivikram Srinivas, and Boyapati Sreenu, among others, graced this memorable occasion.

What is the ANR award?

For context, the ANR Award was founded by the Akkineni Internationa Foundation in 2005. The award recognises actors who have made outstanding contributions to Indian cinema. While Amitabh Bachchan received the award in 2014 10 years later, he stood on stage to present it to Chiranjeevi. Previous recipients of the awards are personalities such as – Dev Anand, Lata Mangeshkar, SS Rajamouli, Hema Malini, Shyam Benegal, Sridevi B Kapoor, Rekha, Shabana Azmi, Anjali Devi, Vyjayantimala Bali, and Balachander
