New Delhi: Amid a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases in India, all the ministers have been advised to undergo RT-PCR test before meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sources said on Tuesday. Besides, if the Prime Minister goes to any rally and whoever is present on the stage with him, they will have to show their RT-PCR test.
All BJP functionaries from Delhi, including the Chief Minister, who are scheduled to meet the Prime Minister at his residence this evening, has also been instructed to get their RT-PCR test done.
The decision comes amid a rise in coronavirus cases in the country. The COVID cases are continuously increasing across the country and at some places patients have also died. In terms of age, the Prime Minister falls in the category of senior citizen. Senior citizens are at the highest risk of testing COVID positive due to their weak immune system.
The coronavirus cases in the country have mounted to 7,121, with Kerala reporting the latest resurgence of infections – followed by Gujarat and Delhi. According to the data available on the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 306 new active cases have been reported since Friday.
