Pune: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) All India Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar on Sunday said that Dr BR Ambedkar’s message of harmony and equality remains deeply relevant in today’s times. He said that while drafting the Constitution, Dr Ambedkar had stressed the importance of achieving social freedom alongside political freedom, a goal the society must continue to pursue.
Marking Ambedkar Jayanti, Ambekar offered floral tributes at Dr Ambedkar’s statue near Pune Railway Station. RSS Pune Mahanagar Sanghchalak Ravindra Vanjarwadkar and other Sangh officials were also present on the occasion.

Call for societal harmony
Ambekar recalled how Dr Ambedkar, despite the prevailing social challenges of his era, worked tirelessly for national unity and social reform. “His efforts, especially towards unity and reform within Indian and Hindu society, were both far-reaching and foundational,” he said. Emphasising Ambedkar’s unmatched role in shaping the Indian Constitution, Ambekar added, “Whatever people may say, the entire country functions as per the Constitution today. It is our duty to rise above divisions and work towards societal harmony.”
Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated on April 14 every year to honour Dr BR Ambedkar, the architect of India’s Constitution. It marks his birth anniversary and recognises his work for equality, justice and uplifting marginalised communities. People celebrate with events, speeches and tributes to his legacy.
