New Delhi: Coming down heavily upon the Congress-led government in Karnataka over the deadly stampede in Bengaluru, the BJP on Thursday demanded arrest of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumara, drawing parallel to grounds of Allu Arjun case.
The stampede broke out outside the Bengaluru Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) victory celebrations on Wednesday. As many as 11 people, mostly youth, were killed and 33 others were injured during the tragedy, sparking national outrage.
Addressing a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra slammed the CM and his deputy saying that the duo should be held directly responsible for the mishandling of the event and sough their resignation.
He further asked if the incident was just an accident or a “manufactured” stampeded. “11 people died in the stampede that took place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Karnataka yesterday. This is a very sad incident not only for Karnataka but for the entire India. Now the question arises that what happened at Chinnaswamy Stadium, was it just an accident or a planned stampede?” Patra said.

Terming the tragedy as “serious and sorrowful,” Patra said, “This is not only a tragic event for Karnataka but for the entire country. The Prime Minister and many others have expressed their condolences.”
Patra draw a parallel between the recent incident and the previous stampede case involving actor Allu Arjun and asked if similar accountability would apply to the Karnataka leadership. “Just like Allu Arjun was arrested earlier for being responsible for a stampede, will Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar be arrested on the same principle today?” Patra asked on social media platform X.
