“We have presented our reply before the Ajmer court on the previous applications. The applications were moved to dismiss the petition. We have sought time to reply to the new applications. Now, the court will hear the matter on March 1,” Gupta said.

Various Muslim leaders and organisations have expressed their concern over the case before court

Various Muslim leaders and organisations have expressed their concern over the suit filed by Gupta claiming the famed dargah of 13th-century Sufi saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti was built over a Hindu temple.

Gupta filed lawsuit before the Ajmer court in September

Gupta filed the suit before the Ajmer court in September last year seeking to declare the Ajmer Dargah – the mausoleum of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti – as Bhagwan Shri Sankatmochan Mahadev Virajman temple.

Gupta has sought removal of unauthorised illegal occupation of Dargah committee, a scientific survey of the Dargah premises conducted by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and directions to start the worship in the temple again.

The Ajmer court had on November 27 last year admitted Gupta’s petition and issued notices to Ajmer Dargah Committee, Ministry of Minority Affairs and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) office New Delhi and sought their response.

There was a temple at Ajmer Sharif Dargah like there was in Kashi and Mathura: Gupta

“There was a temple at Ajmer Sharif Dargah like there was a temple in Kashi and Mathura. We have demanded that the Ajmer dargah should be declared as Sankat Mochan Mahadev Temple and if the said Dargah has any kind of registration, then the registration should be cancelled and its survey should be conducted through ASI. Hindus should be given the right to worship there. We have told the court that why we have filed this petition and after being satisfied with our response, the court issued notices to the concerned parties,” Gupta earlier told .
