Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s untouchable safety record—Until Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad

Kolkata: An Air India flight travelling from Tokyo to Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing in Kolkata on Sunday after passengers and crew experienced unusually warm temperatures inside the cabin.

The flight, numbered AI357, was operating on a Boeing 787 aircraft and had taken off from Haneda Airport in Tokyo. While en route to Delhi, the crew noticed that the cabin temperature remained persistently high and decided to take precautionary action to ensure passenger safety.

According to an official statement from Air India, “Flight AI357 made a precautionary diversion to Kolkata due to persistent warm temperature experienced in the cabin. The aircraft landed safely and is currently undergoing technical checks.”

Once the flight landed safely in Kolkata, ground staff provided assistance to all the passengers. The airline said it is working quickly to arrange alternative flights to take the passengers to their final destination in Delhi. “We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers and are doing everything to ensure their comfort,” the airline added.

This incident comes just a day after another Air India flight, AI639 from Mumbai to Chennai, had to return to Mumbai mid-air due to a burning smell detected inside the cabin. That aircraft also landed safely, and passengers were shifted to another plane.
