Anand, Gujarat: Monali Patel and her husband Sunny Patel, were among the 33 residents of Anand, who died in the Air India Boeing plane on Thursday. The couple had earlier planned to book their tickets for London on June 6, but the last-minute plans made the couple overstay in the city.
One of their relatives Jignesh Patel, who is a resident of Gana village, which is close to Anand, recalled the last days of the couple in India. “They had been here for the last two months. Monali was undergoing medical treatment. Sunny had taken time off from his business in London to be with her,” NDTV quoted Jignesh as saying.
Jignesh shared good bond with deceased couple
Jignesh further mentioned that the couple did not have any child and was attached to their two-year-old son. Speaking to NDTV further, he said that Monali completed her check-in procedures at the Ahmedabad airport at around 11 am. After some time, news about the plane crash was on the air. He then confirmed the flight number A171. Checking the passenger list, Jignesh identified the couple’s name and immediately left for Ahmedabad.
Monali’s parents Mukesh and jayshree Patel reached Ahmedabad, just a day before the plane crash. At the Ahmedabad civil hospital, Mukesh gave his DNA sample to identify his daughter’s body. The hospital authority will provide the results within 72 hours.
Monali’s mother was not informed about the real situation. She was told that the couple is in the ICU, Jignesh told the NDTV.
Sunny loved visiting India
The couple tied the knot nearly seven years ago. Jignesh could not attend it due to several visa issues. After their marriage, Sunny visited India a couple of times, including the lockdown period when International airlines were disrupted. She loved India a lot and wished to visit his country again and again. Monali used to tie rakhi to Jignesh every year, as the two shared a loving bond.
