Ahmedabad Air India crash: Eyewitnesses detail narrow escape

New Delhi: A significant Air India plane crash occurred in Meghani Nagar, Ahmedabad, resulting in a close call for numerous residents. The incident involved Air India flight AI-171, which impacted a residential building near a medical college. The proximity of the crash to populated areas underscores the potential severity of the situation.

Eyewitness accounts, gathered in the immediate aftermath, paint a harrowing picture of near-misses. Vishnu bhai, a resident, recounted how he and his family were in a nearby garden when the plane began its descent. He described the sound and the immediate reaction as the plane approached the buildings. They narrowly avoided the impact, escaping by seconds. Vishnu bhai’s account highlights the sheer speed and unexpectedness of the event. His description of the immediate aftermath includes explosions from LPG cylinders within the building, adding to the chaos.

Investigation teams were quickly deployed to the crash site. They are examining the wreckage and collecting evidence. Initial findings suggest that the plane gained altitude to around 600 feet before a sudden and catastrophic descent. The precise reasons for this dramatic change in altitude are yet to be determined, and the investigation is ongoing. Further investigation will likely focus on various factors, including the aircraft’s mechanical condition, weather conditions, and pilot actions.

The incident has raised serious questions about aviation safety and emergency response protocols in densely populated areas. The proximity of the crash to a residential area highlights the significant risks associated with such accidents. The investigation will play a crucial role in understanding the factors leading to the crash and informing future safety measures.
