The new variant of Corona virus JN.1 is now gaining momentum in the country. After the latest cases registered on Friday, the total number of patients in the country has crossed 1000. So far, cases of JN.1 have been reported in more than 16 states and union territories.
Highest number of JN.1 cases registered in Karnataka
According to data by the SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG), Karnataka has reported the highest number of cases at 214. After this, 170 cases have been reported in Maharashtra, 154 in Kerala, 189 in Andhra Pradesh, 76 in Gujarat and 66 in Goa.
In which states cases of new variants were found?
At the same time, 32-32 JN.1 cases have been found in Telangana and Rajasthan. Along with this, 25 cases have been registered in Chhattisgarh, 22 in Tamil Nadu, 16 in Delhi, 6 in Uttar Pradesh, five in Haryana, three in Odisha, two in West Bengal and one in Uttarakhand. Let us inform that till now a total of 1,013 patients of JN.1 have been found in 16 states and union territories.
Center gave advice to state governments
In view of the increase in new cases in the country, all the states have been asked to maintain constant vigil, so that any threat can be dealt with. The central government has urged the states to follow the guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Apart from this, it has also been asked to keep an eye on influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory illness (SARI). The Center has asked all states to monitor cases district-wise. Let us tell you that the World Health Organization (WHO) has identified the JN.1 variant as the Agar variant. However, WHO has placed it in the low risk category.
