Hours after India conducted a precision military strike across the Line of Control (LoC), former Army chief General (Retd.) MM Naravane declared that the response was far from final. “Abhi picture baki hai,” he posted on ‘X’ (formerly: Twitter) on Tuesday, using the popular Hindi phrase to signal that India’s retaliation for last month’s terror attack in Pahalgam is still unfolding. Gen Naravane, who led the Indian Army during earlier periods of heightened border tensions, praised the Operation.

The Indian Army’s late-night strike on Monday targeted terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), in response to the dastardly killing of 26 tourists by terrorists in Pahalgam.
Operation Sindoor is ‘not about war’
Military sources were reported as saying that the latest strike was based on “credible intelligence” and focused solely on “precision targets” within PoK. Sources clarified that the mission was not designed for escalation but to deliver a message. “This was not about war—it was about deterrence,” a senior defence official was quoted in an Economic Times report.
Govt flags risk of more attacks
At a press briefing on Operation Sindoor, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri warned that intelligence inputs point to potential further terror attacks. “Our intelligence agencies monitoring terrorist activities have indicated that there could be more attacks on India, and it was felt essential to both stop and tackle them,” he said.
High alert and tightened surveillance in Kashmir
Security agencies remain on heightened alert, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. Surveillance along the LoC has intensified, and military monitoring of Pakistani troop movements continues. The government has indicated that while this was a limited strike, India’s response matrix is evolving.
With former Army chief signalling that “the picture isn’t over,” Monday’s strike appears to be the opening act in a broader strategy.
