A mosque and a madrassa in the southern area of Delhi were demolished by the Delhi Development Authority. It is being told that the demolished mosque and madrassa were 600-700 years old. Local people claimed that Mehrauli’s Akhundji Mosque and Baharul Uloom Madrasa were built during the reign of Razia Sultan. Imam has accused DDA officials of razing the mosque and madrasa in Mehrauli area of Delhi. Imam of the mosque Zakir Hussain alleged that the mosque was demolished secretly. He says that before demolishing the mosque, DDA officials gave him only 10 minutes to remove the items. The Imam of the mosque also alleges that during the demolition of the mosque and the madrassa, his phone was snatched away and he was kept away from that place.

DDA told the reason for demolishing the mosque
The reason for razing the mosque and madrassa in Mehrauli area of Delhi has also come to light. DDA said that these days action is being taken to demolish illegal construction and remove encroachment in Sanjay Forest area. During this time, temples, mosques and dargahs falling in the reserved area are being demolished. In this sequence, on Tuesday, Madrasa and Mosque in South Ridge Protected Area of Delhi were demolished after they were found illegal. DDA officials also said that all illegal constructions under this protected area will be demolished.
