New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday praised the security forces after 31 Naxalites were killed in an encounter in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. Point out the gunfire that took place on Sunday morning, the minister also reiterated his resolve to end Naxalism from the country by March of next year.

Sharing a message on X, Shah also expressed condolences to the family members of the two security personnel who were martyred in the encounter and added that the country will always remain indebted to them.

“In the direction of making India Naxal-free, the security forces have achieved a big success in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. In this operation, 31 Naxalites were killed and a huge amount of arms and explosives were also recovered,” the Home Minister wrote on X.

He added, “Today we have lost two of our brave soldiers in the effort to end anti-human Naxalism. This country will always be indebted to these heroes. I express my heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers. I also reiterate my resolve that before 31 March 2026, we will completely eradicate Naxalism from the country, so that no citizen of the country has to lose his life due to it.”

नक्सल मुक्त भारत बनाने की दिशा में सुरक्षा बलों ने छत्तीसगढ़ के बीजापुर में बड़ी सफलता हासिल की है। इस ऑपरेशन में 31 नक्सलियों को ढेर करने के साथ ही भारी मात्रा में हथियार और विस्फोटक सामग्री भी बरामद की गयी है।

Earlier in the day, security personnel eliminated 31 Naxalites during an encounter in the Indravati National Park area. While two security personnel were martyred in the encounter, two others were also injured. As per officials, a large cache of weapons and explosives was also recovered from the site.

BJP Govt fighting strongly against Naxalism: CM Vishnu Deo Sai

Speaking to ANI after the encounter, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai said, “We have been fighting strongly against the Naxaslism since the time we came to power…We praise our jawans for their bravery. Today in the Bijapur district an encounter broke out between the Jawans and the Naxals. 31 Naxals were killed in this. I congratulate the Jawans for this success. Two Jawans lost their lives, may their soul rest in peace.”
