
New Delhi: A city court on Friday (June 6) extended the judicial custody of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana till July 9.
Special Judge Chander Jit Singh extended Rana’s judicial custody after he was peoduced before the court through video conference from Tihar Jail after expiry of his judicial custody granted earlier.
The court earlier had on May 9 sent Rana to judicial custody in Tihar Jail till June 6.
The judge also sought a status report from Tihar Jail authorities on Rana’s health condition by June 9 after the counsel representing Rana raised concerns on his wellbeing, news agency PTI reported.
Rana was extradited to India in April
Rana, a 64-year-old Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman, was brought to India in April after his review petition against his extradition to India was dismissed by the US Supreme Court on April 4.
Rana is a close associate of David Coleman Headley alias Daood Gilani who is a US citizen and the main conspirator of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.

Rana is accused of being involved in the larger conspiracy behind the dastardly Mumbai terror attacks, orchestrated by Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), on November 26, 2008. 166 people lost their lives and over 238 persons were injured in the dastardly three-day attack at several locations in the financial capital of India.
Centre recently appointed team of lawyers headed by Solicitor General for trial against Rana
The Centre recently appointed a Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta-led team to conduct the trial against Rana in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack case. Other lawyers appointed by the Centre in the team of Special Public Prosecutors are Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, senior advocate Dayan Krishnan and advocate Narender Mann.
