Kolar: A shocking incident took place in Poojarahalli village of Mulbagal taluk in Karnataka’s Kolar district, where a 21-year-old man named Karthik died after drinking five bottles of alcohol as part of a bet.
According to the police, Karthik was with his friends when he claimed he could drink five bottles of liquor without water. One of his friends, Venkat Reddy, challenged him with a bet of Rs 10,000 in cash if he could do it. Karthik accepted the challenge and started drinking.
After consuming the alcohol, Karthik suddenly fell ill. His friends rushed him to the hospital, but he could not survive and was declared dead. Karthik, who worked in Bengaluru, had recently become a father just nine days ago.
Police have registered a case against six people, including Venkat Reddy and another friend, Subramani. Both main accused have been arrested by the Nagali police, and a search is on for the remaining accused.
This incident has once again raised concerns about the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 26 lakh people die every year due to alcohol-related causes, and even small amounts of alcohol can be harmful to health.
