‘Nuclear sabre-rattling is Pak’s stock-in-trade’: India hits back at Gen Asim Munir’s comments

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs has responded sharply to the blatant nuclear threats by Pakistan Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir while on US soil. The Ministry in its official statement called the remarks irresponsible and coming from a state which is in collusion with terrorists.

Asim Munir, while ddressing a gathering of people of Pakistani origin in Florida’s Tampa stated that if Pakistan faced an “existential threat” from India, it would “take half the world down with it”. He also said that Pakistan would destroy with ten missiles any dam constructed by India following the suspension of Indus Water Treaty.

In response the MEA called the remarks by Pakistan Army Chief a “Nuclear sabre-rattling” which is Pakistan’s “stock-in-trade”.

“The international community can draw its own conclusions on the irresponsibility inherent in such remarks, which also reinforce the well-held doubts about the integrity of nuclear command and control in a state where the military is hand-in-glove with terrorist groups,” it stated.

The ministry added, “It is also regrettable that these remarks should have been made from the soil of a friendly third country. India has already made it clear that it will not give in to nuclear blackmail. We will continue to take all steps necessary to safeguard our national security.”
