New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that they have managed to prove that the Election Commission and the BJP committed theft of votes. Gandhi referred to the press conference he held on Thursday, during his ‘Vote Adhikaar Rally’ in Bengaluru. He also used the platform to launch a scathing attack on the BJP.

BJP’s ideology against Constitution: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi went on to attack the BJP and said that the party’s ideology was against the Constitution. He said, ” Every Congress leader and worker will protect it. (Constitution).” Attacking the EC, Gandhi said that the poll body must immediately hand over the voter list and video recordings of the past 10 years, to the Congress Party.

Gandhi has repeatedly questioned the EC over what he calls “voter fraud” . At a press conference on Thursday, he came up with data to corroborate his claim that multiple people were registered as voters in different states and that some people had enrolled twice or even thrice as voters in the same city.

Election Commission’s response

The Election Commission responded aggressively to Gandhi’s allegations. According to sources, the EC asked the Congress leader to sign a Declaration listing out all the allegations he had made against the poll body.

According to sources, the EC said, “If (Congress MP & LoP) Rahul Gandhi believes in his analysis and believes that his allegations against ECI are true, he should have no problem in signing the Declaration. If Rahul Gandhi does not sign the Declaration, it would mean that he does not believe in his analysis and resultant conclusions and absurd allegations. In which case, he should apologise to the nation.”

Sources said that EC gave Gandhi 2 options. The first is that he signs the Declaration or apologises to the nation for raising absurd allegations against ECI.
