‘Election Commission colluded with BJP to steal votes’: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addresses media at Indira Bhavan

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Thursday addressed the media at the Indira Bhavan in Delhi. The Congress leader attacked the government over what he alleged was voter fraud. He questioned the government over various issues, including polling over months, and use of Electronic Voting Machines.

Rahul raises questions over Maharashtra Assembly Elections

Gandhi questioned the authenticity of Maharashtra elections. He claimed that more voters were added to the voters list in 5 months, than were added over a period of 5 years. He said, “I have raised this question publicly with the Election Commission.”

The Congress leader alleged that the Election Commission evaded Congress party’s objections. He said that the Commission refused to handover the voter list to the political parties.

He said that the Opposition performed well in the Lok Sabha Elections in 2024, but just 5 months later the BJP triumphed in the Assembly Elections. He alleged that “the EC colluded with the BJP to steal the elections.”

The Election Commission does not want people to know that voters are duplicated in the voter list, alleged Gandhi. He said that this is the reason that the Commission refused to give a digital electronic voters list to the Congress party. He also alleged that the voters’ lists on paper are not machine readable.

The Congress leader said that the internal polling carried out by the party post the Karnataka Elections, showed that the party would win 16 seats, but ultimately won just 9 seats.

Gandhi said that over 1 lakh votes were “stolen”. He said that this “vote chori” was done in 5 different ways. These were:

1. Duplicate voters: Same voter appears multiple times in voters list. Some names also appear in multiple states. Over 11,000 duplicate voters in India, alleges Gandhi.

2. Invalid Photos:

3. Misuse of Form 6

4. Fake addresses : The addresses mentioned on the voter IDs do not exist and cannot be verified. There are 40,000 such cases, alleged Gandhi.
