Heavy downpour left large parts of Surat waterlogged particularly in the low-lying areas. With the city recording 400mm rainfall in 36 hours, several roads got submerged and residential societies were inundated. The affected people were moved to safer areas with tractors and boats. Heavy rains also left the Tapi river, which passes through the city and various creeks, swollen causing waterlogging in low-lying residential areas.
