Air India flight from Birmingham to Delhi receives bomb threat

New Delhi: An Air India flight traveling from Birmingham to Delhi received a bomb threat. As a precaution, the aircraft was diverted to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where it landed safely.

A complete security check was conducted, and no threats were found. A spokesperson for Air India confirmed the development on Sunday and said that all necessary safety procedures were followed, as reported by ANI.

This incident adds to a series of recent disruptions in India’s aviation sector. On Saturday, an IndiGo flight was cancelled due to a technical issue that was discovered before the plane began moving on the runway. As a safety measure, all passengers were safely taken off the aircraft.

There has been a noticeable rise in flight delays, cancellations, and emergency situations, especially after the Air India crash in Ahmedabad on June 12. The aviation sector is currently under scrutiny due to these frequent operational and technical problems.

On Saturday, another Air India Express flight traveling from Delhi to Patna was diverted to Varanasi due to bad weather. The plane eventually reached Patna safely after the weather improved.

On Friday, an IndiGo flight from Guwahati to Chennai, carrying 168 passengers, had to make an emergency landing in Bengaluru. The pilot had issued a “Mayday” call after failing to land in Chennai due to congestion and an unstable approach. The aircraft, running low on fuel, was quickly diverted to Bengaluru and landed safely with emergency services on standby.
