New Delhi: NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule on Tuesday  expressed disappointment with Air India after her flight from Delhi to Pune was delayed by three hours. The development comes days after London-bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 241 passengers crashed shortly after take-off in Ahmedabad. Only one British passenger survived the crash.

The Baramati MP tweeted, “Travelling from Delhi to Pune on @airindia flight AI 2971. The flight is delayed by over 3 hours – no clear communication, no updates, no assistance and very bad service. Such delays and mismanagement are becoming a norm with @airindia.”

“Passengers are left stranded and helpless. This apathy is unacceptable. Urging @RamMNK, @MoCA_GoI to intervene and hold the airline accountable. Travelers deserve better,” she said.

Aviation minister Mohan assures Sule of addressing issues

After a while,  Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu assured Sule saying, ” @supriya_sule ji, I’ve spoken to the airline and airport authorities. They’ve been asked to urgently address the concerns of all affected passengers.”

Troubles continued at Air India, which is facing the biggest crisis since Tata group bought the airline three and a half years back, with several being cancelled for various reasons. There was also a glitch forcing fliers on San Francisco-Mumbai flight to deplane during a stopover.

The Airline crash

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, with 242 people on board, which was headed for Gatwick Airport, south of the British capital, had only one survivor after it crashed onto a medical college hostel in Ahmedabad after 33 seconds of taking off. According to air traffic control at Ahmedabad Airport, the aircraft departed at 1:39 p.m. It made a Mayday call, signalling an emergency, but thereafter there was no response from the aircraft.
