New Delhi: Thai airport authorities have said no bomb was found on board the Air India flight that made an emergency landing in Phuket on Friday morning after a threat was reported mid-air.

The Delhi-bound aircraft, flight AI 379, took off from Phuket at 9:30 AM local time with 156 passengers. However, it returned to the Thai island and landed safely after a passenger reportedly discovered a bomb threat note on the plane.

An official from Airports of Thailand said emergency protocols were activated immediately. Passengers were safely evacuated after the flight landed, and a security sweep was carried out on the aircraft.

“The plane has landed safely, and all procedures are being followed,” the official told Reuters. Authorities have completed a preliminary search of the aircraft and confirmed no explosive device has been found so far.

Thai officials are now questioning the passenger who reported the note to understand how the threat was discovered.

Flight tracking data from Flightradar24 showed the aircraft made a wide turn over the Andaman Sea before heading back to Phuket.

Further investigations are underway, and airport security remains on high alert.
