Jaisalmer: Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers deployed along the borders with Bangladesh and Pakistan have been issued newly designed uniforms. These uniforms feature digital camouflage patterns resembling those worn by Army and CRPF personnel. The fabric materials have already reached BSF battalions and sector headquarters, where they are being tailored accordingly.

Inspector General of the BSF Rajasthan Frontier, M.L. Garg, stated on Sunday that the new uniforms are designed to provide better comfort to the personnel. The fabric composition includes 80 per cent cotton, 19 per cent polyester, and 1 per cent spandex, ensuring improved breathability and flexibility. In contrast, the previous uniforms, made of 50 per cent cotton and 50 per cent polyester, caused discomfort in extremely hot weather conditions. The new colour combination consists of 50 per cent khaki, 45 per cent green, and 5 per cent brown.

Smart tech replaces traditional iron fencing

Meanwhile, preparations are underway to strengthen the Rajasthan border with advanced smart fencing systems. In the initial phase, a four-kilometre stretch along the Ghaggar river in Anupgarh, Sri Ganganagar, has been fenced. Since the area is prone to flooding, traditional iron fencing proved ineffective during the monsoon. A ten-foot-high plastic-coated smart fence has been erected to reduce erosion risks.

The smart fence, bordered with cobra wire mesh on both sides, serves as a strong deterrent, making it difficult for intruders to scale or breach. Garg noted that under the Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System (CIBMS), modern surveillance technologies, including CCTV cameras and the latest detection equipment, have been installed to ensure round-the-clock monitoring. These systems will significantly enhance the response speed and situational awareness of BSF personnel.

Additionally, the BSF has established its second major National Training Centre for Dogs (NTCD) in Bikaner, further boosting its operational capabilities.
