Court also sought a fresh report on Rana’s health

The judge, while allowing the reprieve to Rana to speak to his family only one time, also asked the Tihar Jail authorities to file a report clarifying their stand on whether accused Rana should be allowed regular phone calls, news agency PTI reported.

The court also sought from the authorities a fresh report on Rana’s health within 10 days from Monday.

The court earlier appointed advocate Piyush Sachdeva from Delhi Legal Services Authority to represent Rana after he told the court that didn’t have a lawyer to represent him.

Rana is currently lodged in judicial custody in Tihar Jail

Rana, who is currently lodged in judicial custody in Tihar Jail in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, was brought to India in April after his review petition against his extradition to India was dismissed by the US Supreme Court on April 4.

Rana is accused of being involved in larger conspiracy behind 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks

Rana, who is a close associate of David Coleman Headley alias Daood Gilani, a US citizen and the main conspirator of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, is accused of being involved in the larger conspiracy behind the dastardly Mumbai terror attacks, orchestrated by Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), on November 26, 2008.

166 people lost their lives and over 238 people were injured in the dastardly three-day attack at several locations in the financial capital of India.
