How Social Media Influencers in India lured into spying for Pakistan | Details

New Delhi: A businesswoman from Pakistan, who runs a travel agency in the country, is believed to be the person who helped Indian social media influencers cross the border and involved them in spying activities in India.

According to a report published in NDTV, the woman identified as Noshaba Shehzad, runs Lahore-based company ‘Jaiyana Travel and Tourism’. She allegedly helped Indian social media influencers like Jyoti Malhotra and several others to visit Pakistan. Malhotra was arrested recently for spying.

How did her name crop up in India?

The report added that the woman is known by the codename ‘Madam N’ by Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) in Pakistan. Her picture came to the fore during the interrogation of several alleged spies, who reportedly shared sensitive information with the neighbouring country. The woman was reportedly looking to set up a sleeper cell for 500 spies, who could hide in various parts of India.

The NDTV report noted that the woman’s husband is a retired officer in Pakistan’s civil services. The Pakistani army and the ISI reportedly instructed her on how to set up the sleeper cell network in India.

She reportedly even introduced Indian social media influencers to Pakistani army officials and the ISI. She used to lure Hindus and Sikhs into India and helped close to 3,000 Indian citizens from India visit Pakistan in the last few months.

The woman was believed to be in touch with the Pakistani embassy in Delhi. She was reportedly in touch with First Secretary (Visa) Suhail Qamar and Counsellor (Trade) Umar Sheryar. Apart from them, she was in touch with ISI operative Danish alias Ehsan-ur-Rehman, who worked as a visa officer in the Pakistani embassy in Delhi. In May this year, Danish was expelled from India Malhotra was taken in custody.
