Ayodhya gears up for the second phase of Ram Mandir consecration; CM Yogi Adityanath to attend major ceremonies

New Delhi: The second phase of the consecration of Ram Janmabhoomi Temple is set to commence from Tuesday. On Monday, a grand sacred procession was flagged off from the banks of Saryu River, marking the beginning of the rituals leading to “pran pratishtha”.

Security has been significantly heightened in the holy city , with the temple complex declared red-zone. ATS commandos, armoured vehicles, and round-the-clock surveillance in three shifts have been deployed to ensure safety.

The upcoming rituals include consecration of idols in the Ram Darbar on the temple’s first floor in six other other temples in June 5. These events will culminate on June 5, aligning with the auspicious occasion of Ganga Dussehra.

The Kalash Yatra began Monday evening from Sarayu Ghat and passed through Veena Chowk, Ram Path, Singar Haat, and Rang Mahal Barrier before reaching the temple.

On June 3 and 4, rituals such as fire offerings, recitation of 1,975 mantras, am Raksha Stotra, Hanuman Chalisa, as well as other devotional hymns will take place from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. The main consecration of the idols of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman, along with six other temples is scheduled for June 5.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to attend four major events, the main consecration ceremony, the Sarayu Trayodashi Utsav, Trust President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, and a World Environment Day program.

Champat Rai, Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, requested the public not to visit Ayodhya solely based on the report of the rituals, emphasising that no public invitations have been issued from June 3 to June 5. He added that while temple remains open for the “darshan of Ram Lalla”, the first floor Ram Darbar and nearby temples are still under construction and not yet accessible to devotees.

District Magistrate Nikhil Tukaram Funde said comprehensive arrangements have been made for visitors such as providing shaded areas, drinking water, sanitation, ORS sachets and emergency hospital beds throughout the district.

Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover stated that extensive security measures have been implemented, with site inspections conducted and personnel from ATS and STF deployed at all critical junctures.

This event envisions the three- day celebration held on January 11 to mark the first original anniversary of the ‘pran pratishtha’, which took place on January 22 last year and was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A large footfall is expected once again this week.
